Welcome to the website of EnvirONE-HEALTH project!
According to the World Health Organization, 24% of the entire world population loses their lives due to environmental problems. Between 2030 and 2050, approximately 250,000 additional deaths per year are expected due to climate change alone, due to malnutrition, malaria, diarrhea and rising world temperature. The most critical point here is that environmental problems affect all world societies without any discrimination.
In order to prevent environmental problems, to protect, develop and improve the environment, it is necessary to question the environmental perspectives and value judgments of individuals first. At this point; It is seen that the concept of environmental literacy, which shows the capacity of the individual to show his knowledge about the environment as a behavior, has gained importance in recent years and has come to the fore as an area that needs to be developed. The basis of environmental literacy is to answer the questions we ask about our environment and to seek and find answers, and to use the answers we find effectively. Individuals with advanced environmental literacy have awareness, knowledge and sensitivity about how the natural systems in the world work and how human activities affect these systems. In addition, they can easily understand processes and events related to both the social environment and the natural environment.
OneHealth; defining the relationship between humans, animals, plants and their shared environments and working locally, regionally, nationally and globally to achieve optimal health outcomes; it is a collaborative, multi-sectoral and interdisciplinary approach.
EnvirONE-HEALTH is a project co-funded by the European Commission, through the Erasmus+ Programme (KA220 – Cooperation partnership in Adult education), aiming to increase the environmental literacy of the people and to combat climate change within the scope of the One Health concept.
